IEF Programs: Childhood Blindness in Bolivia

In the Ichilo Province of Bolivia, 61,553 mothers and children ages 12 to 23 months old were assisted through IEF's efforts. In the Nsanje District of Malawi, approximately 237,000 women of childbearing age and children under five years of age were helped in 513 villages.

With population coverage well beyond original targets of 194,481 people, the child survival project has contributed to a wider national movement to distribute treated bednets to make a significant impact on malaria. Analysis and improvement of operational health systems at the district level is helping to make the program sustainable through more effective and efficient use of resources.

The global efforts of non-governmental organizations, USAID, WHO, UNICEF, and the governments themselves have placed a major emphasis on the reduction of vitamin A and micro-nutrient deficiencies. IEF is proud to be part of the solution. [ IEF Programs ]
