Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital

The Lions SighFirst Eye Hospital in Lilongwe, Malawi is an eye clinic existing within a public/government sector hospital. Since IEF's involvement, cataract surgeries show an overall increase of 139%, the use of intra-ocular lenses is up from 20% to 95%. In terms of sustainability and economics, 84% of all revenue comes from non-patient fees and 96% of patients still receive treatment free of charge. This hospital and the new eye unit in Blantyre are the two major eye hospitals in Malawi. [ Back To SRM ]
