IEF Programs: River Blindness in Cameroon

IEF and the local Ministry of Health staff are responsible for distributing Mectizan® (ivermectin) in Cameroon's Adamaoua and South Provinces to address onchocerciasis, the disease which causes what is commonly known as "river blindness." With funding from the "African Programme for Onchocerciasis Control" (APOC), the Lions SightFirst program, and the Insel Foundation, 629,467 people were treated in 2006 in both Provinces. The IEF's blindness prevention and sight saving programs are funded by governmental, foundation, and corporate contributors, as well as individuals like you who generously donate online. Our website showcases our successes and our breadth of services to the developing world. Feel free to contact us with specific questions or requests. [ Trachoma ]
