Pooja Doshi, MPH, COA joined the International Eye Foundation as a Program Manager on 16 October 2017. She is a recent graduate from the Master’s in Public Health (MPH) program from the University of Maryland and also attended Georgetown’s Ophthalmic Medical Assistant Training program in Washington D.C. She received her Bachelor’s in Science in 2013 from the University of Maryland as well. She served as an intern with IEF since July 2016 working with John Barrows to conduct an internal inventory and review of the 55 eye hospitals in 22 countries that IEF has assisted to measure IEF’s impact over the past 16 years since we established the SightReach® Management sustainability program. Ms. Doshi lectures/conducts workshops at the University of Maryland and Georgetown University and has volunteered abroad in Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti screening patients for refractive error, cataracts, and glaucoma, and has assisted in cataract surgery. Ms. Doshi also worked on the congressional mandate for the Defense and Veteran’s Eye Injury and Vision Registry (DVEIVR), a joint initiative between the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs' vision care communities to manage an ocular care clinical data repository. It is a location for both DoD and VA's eye care community including clinical providers, researchers and academia to review and research data collected on eye care diagnosis, surgical intervention, operative procedures, visual acuity, and treatment for our service members and veterans injured in battle. She has also worked in an ophthalmic clinic for 5 years in Maryland as well. She is interested in applying for the Doctorate of Public Health (DrPH) degree at Johns Hopkins University in 2019.
